2012 Real or Another Y2K Type Prophesy ?

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven…

The ancient Mayans were obsessed with time and future events. They developed and used several calendars. One of the calendars they developed, the Long Count calendar, covered 26,000 years. The remarkable accuracy of their astronomical projections has astonished mankind for centuries. The Mayan Long Count calendar ends on December 21, 2012.

These warnings of destruction and calamities in the year 2012 comes also from the Bible, the I Ching - The Chinese Book of Changes, writings from the ancient Hopi Indians and from noted philosophers–prognosticators such as Nostradamus and others.

Now, what are we to make of all this? Is this just another Y2K type scare with dire warnings of horrors prophesized by the conspiring geek community? We think not. Our conclusion is that the thread of truth that runs through all prophesies is that 2012 will be the year that begins a new stage of human evolution. This evolution will occur as a result of suffering from natural and man-made calamaties that will force each person to search for what is truly important.

Church of Doom.

What we call the Church of Doom is a group of like minded individuals that share a fascination with the prophesies of 2012. The 2012 Church of Doom believes that throughout history organized religions have been the greatest cause of suffering, misery, ignorance and confusion for mankind on earth. We follow no organized religion or denomination. We at the Church of Doom possess a sensitivity to our spiritual environment and cannot ignore the real sense of dread and foreboding as the days quickly march towards 12/21/2012 . The destruction will not just be to our physical surroundings but to our economic and social order.

As many others believe, we also foresee:

· the beginnings of economic chaos and confusion that will destroy the global economy .

· natural disasters

· social disorder

· possibly WWIII

This 2012 phenomenon will not occur as if flipping a switch or watching the clock strike the second after mid-night on 12/21/2012. We believe that this date will generally mark the transition and acceptance of humanity’s change. It is our belief that preparation for survival will mitigate the traumatic stress and despair that will occur as tragic and disturbing events unfold.

This site will chronicle the unfolding events as we approach 12/21/2012 and will report on topics of interest including survival.

Update June 2011

Sorry for the long delay in our postings. For the last several months we have been traveling and observing people and conditions throughout various areas of the planet. One clear observable fact is that people share a sense of restlessness and frustration. For many there is a belief that we are on the wrong path and things must change and this change is inevitable. As one woman in Indonesia stated “ it feels like we are on an airplane heading to a place of fear and there is no way of getting off.”

As we approach the end date of the Mayan Long Count calendar, our planet will complete a journey of 5,125 years and move into alignment with the sun in the center of the galaxy. We should observe and learn from the events that unfold throughout the world and perhaps make preparations for our individual survival and spiritual well being. We have noticed the change to extreme or strange weather conditions. We have noticed the growing occurrences of powerful earthquakes and catastrophic weather conditions. We believe that these strange events will continue.

We observed the extreme changes in human-made events such as the occurrences in the Middle East as a result frustrations and unhappiness with various governments. We noticed that there is growing shortages of food and basic necessities in certain parts of the world. The Mayan word “Teotwaki” or the end of the world as we know it will be brought on not only by natural catastrophes but also by human behavior that will compound the chaos and misery.. As stated previously we still believe the world economy will collapse in 2012. The U.S. dollar will reach its lowest point and perhaps be replaced as the world reserve currency.

Individual survival is the responsibility of each person. Firstly prepare yourself and your family to survive the unexpected. Be in a constant awareness of your surroundings and preparedness . Destruction will not happen all at once on December 21, 2012. In the days before this date many will perish as we have seen in the last several months from the extreme weather conditions. As we see it, if a person is killed by rising flood waters or a tornado for that person it is the end of the world as he knew it.

Perhaps we as humans have reached a point in our evolution that requires self examination of our direction. We have all seen the unity and generosity of people in areas of recent natural disasters such as in Japan, and other parts of the world. Perhaps from these and future disasters and calamities a new sense of responsibility and community will evolve for human kind. Or, perhaps we should accept the fact that throughout the history of our planet destruction and occasional mass extinctions of living creatures is a way life. Stay vigilant.
